Scarlett thinks she has Obama’s private email
Scarlett Johansson has learned the hard way that you can’t be a smoking hot young actress and gush to the press about your private e-mail correspondence with the future president elect. Sure, that one might seem like a no brainer but Johansson probably just thought leaking the news would make her sound brainy and politically aware rather than like an Obama-stealing hussy. Oh Scarlett, for someone so brainy, you certainly are naïve.
Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar, Johansson explained that she brought madness upon herself when she publicly proclaimed that she’d been exchanging e-mails with Obama, who was running for president at the time. Said Johansson, “And then, the title of the article was ‘Actress Has A Crush On Obama.’ Talk about sexist. If I were George Clooney, they would never have written that. I was obviously in a relationship and people were like, ‘How dare she try to break up his marriage with Michelle?’ I was like, ‘What the hell is going on?’”
To make matters somewhat more humiliating for Johansson, Obama’s people quickly released a statement saying that an assistant forwarded a message to Scarlett and that she did not, in fact, have Obama’s e-mail address. Ouch…but big props to Obama, who might be the only man out there capable of making Scarlett Johansson look uncool.
Says Johansson, “Then he released the statement –his camp had to; they’re on a 24-hour news cycle and have to quell anything that comes in that is questionable. I was really mortified, but I learned my lesson.”
Still, the actress has no hard feelings towards Obama, and she would be delighted to attend the inauguration if invited. Said Johansson, “I’m absolutely over the moon. If I’m invited to the inaugural party, I’ll be there in a giant gown with the Obama family silk-screened on it.”
If Johansson does get invited, we advise her to refrain from running to the press to declare that Barack Obama personally sealed her invitation with a kiss.
