Drew Barrymore along with Emmy Rossum and other celebrities rallied on the streets of Hollywood to protest against the new California ban on gay marriage.

The celebrities joined thousands of activists to protest about the re-instatement of Proposal 8, which bans same-sex marriages after they were legalised briefly last year. Star Trek [^] actor George Takei, Kelly Osbourne, Sophia Bush, comedienne Kathy Griffin and singer/actress Deborah Gibson are among other celebrities who have criticised California’s approval of the ban.
