The first Aunt Vivian on “The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air” is speaking out about a reunion show after a photo has surfaced of almost the entire Fresh Prince cast having lunch together.
Janet Hubert said she did not go to the lunch and will never do a reunion show because she blames Will Smith for being fired from the show at the end of the third season.
“There will never be a reunion as I will never do anything with an asshole like Will Smith,” Hubert is quoted as saying.
“He is still an egomaniac and has not grown up. This constant reunion thing will never ever happen in my lifetime unless there is an apology, which he doesn’t know the word.”
Hubert, has blamed Smith for her firing before. She even sued the star and NBC, contending Smith created a hostile work environment after she became pregnant but she lost the suit. Hubert’s pregnancy was even written into the show.
Smith, 43, previously defended himself against Hubert’s claims, saying it was her ego that led to her replacement by actress Daphne Reid halfway through the show’s six-season run.
“I can say straight up that Janet Hubert wanted the show to be ‘The Aunt Viv of Bel-Air Show,’” he told an Atlanta radio station after she was cut.
“She has basically gone from a quarter of a million dollars a year to nothing. She’s mad now, but she’s been mad all along. She said once, ‘I’ve been in the business for 10 years and this snotty-nosed punk comes along and gets a show.’ No matter what, to her I’m just the Anti-Christ,” he told the station.
