Silverstone On Broadway

Filed under: Alicia Silverstone, Female Celebrities — Tags: — Tim @ 12:37 am

This fine Manhattan Theatre Club production, superbly directed by Daniel Sullivan at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre opens with Sarah Goodwin (the excellent Laura Linney) in a full leg cast with facial wounds, a war photographer who has been badly injured by a roadside bomb in Iraq, entering the Williamsburg loft she shares with James Dodd (the equally excellent Brian D’Arcy James), a war journalist. Particularly attentive to her, and admittedly feeling guilty because he left Iraq before the incident, he has retrieved her from hospital in Germany.

Alicia Silverstone made a major decision about 11 years ago: She decided to go vegan. That meant eliminating meat and dairy from her diet, and instead eating whole grains and what she calls “magic foods” such as miso and sea vegetables.

Silverstone has set out on a mission to share the results from her lifestyle change with her new book, “The Kind Diet”

With the boosted energy and enthusiasm she attributes to her diet, Ms. Silverstone’s life is moving full speed ahead.

Silverstone talks about being a childhood vegetarian

Filed under: Alicia Silverstone, Female Celebrities — Tags: — Tim @ 12:22 am

Alicia Silverstone first gave up eating meat when she was eight but was too young to go completely veggie.

The big screen’s one-time Batgirl admits it took years for her to become a devoted non-meat eater.

She explained: “I didn’t grow up on vegetarian food. I ate the same things that everyone else did.

“There were times when I would get selfish and eat meat – at eight years old it’s hard to stick to your guns – and so through the years I was always starting and stopping trying to be a vegetarian.”

It was a stint spent saving dogs from experimentation that turned the actress against meat for good.

She explained: “I started thinking, ‘Why am I saving one animal and still eating steak? How can I love these creatures so much… and keep eating meat?’ Ultimately I thought that if I wasn’t ready to eat a dog, I shouldn’t be eating meat at all.”

Clueless 2?

Filed under: Alicia Silverstone, Female Celebrities — Tags: — Tim @ 12:53 am

We’re living in a post-Batman & Robin world, a world where we’ve all figured out that yeah, Alicia Silverstone wasn’t as awesome as we thought she was after Clueless. So I’m not really sure who the audience for this is, but Silverstone and Clueless director Amy Heckerling may be talking about making a Clueless 2.

The rumor comes from the less than reliable folks at Star where they claim not only to have spotted Heckerling and Silverstone hanging out together, but also to have somehow eavesdropped on their conversation. The Star’s source claims: “They were talking about the script they’re working on and how exciting this is for them.”

Silverstone stars in Time Stands Still

She’s hot.” “Oh, yeah, she’s hot,” “The hot younger girlfriend.” So leer James, Sarah and Richard, the literate and somewhat self important trio of Donald Margulies’s “Time Stands Still.” They’re talking about Mandy, Richard’s much younger girlfriend who is offstage powdering her nose. The interesting thing is, the actress playing Mandy – the hottie in question – isn’t really all that pant and sweat inducing. Oh, she has been before, back in her pre “Clueless” jailbait days, and she certainly could be again. But that’s not really what Alicia Silverstone is all about these days.
