If you blinked, you might have missed the short retirement of 24-year-old actress Amanda Bynes. Only a month ago, she tweeted, “Being an actress isn’t as fun as it may seem. If I don’t love something anymore I stop doing it. I don’t love acting anymore so I’ve stopped doing it.”
Surprise, surprise, on Friday, she announced her big comeback with a simple tweet: “I’ve unretired.”
Tip for Amanda you may want to be gone long enough for us to miss you before you come back to work.
I’m thinking that her original choice to retire was a rash decision. Some producer pissed her off and, being a dramatic 20 something, she reacted without thinking.
It also might’ve been publicity for a new movie she has coming out, Easy A (for which she later tweeted the YouTube trailer link).
Or both?

Amanda Bynes the former child star abruptly announced on Twitter Sunday that she was retiring at the ripe old age of 24.
“Being an actress isn’t as fun as it may seem,” she tweeted. “If I don’t love something, I stop doing it. I don’t love acting anymore, so I’ve stopped doing it.”
But her publicist tells the Daily News that Bynes “sounded great” as late as last Thursday when she was doing press for her upcoming movie, “Easy A.”
Melissa Raubvogel claims Bynes had said she wanted to “take some down time” but never mentioned retiring.
As for the Daily Beast’s report that Bynes was fired from the Farrelly brothers film “Hall Pass,” the actress’ rep fervently denied it, saying her client left over a “scheduling conflict.”
If Bynes has, in fact, retired, she will be casting aside a once successful career.
Amanda Bynes claims to be leaving acting.
She had this to say on Twitter early this morning.
“I don’t love acting anymore so I’ve stopped doing it,” Bynes tweeted around 3 a.m. Saturday morning.
“Being an actress isn’t as fun as it may seem. I’ve never written the movies & tv shows I’ve been apart of, I’ve only acted like the characters the producers or directors wanted me to play.”
“I know 24 is a young age to retire,” she wrote, “but you heard it here first I’ve retired.”
Is she really going to stop acting? You can atleast see Amanda in one more movie. This fall she will be co starting in Easy A with Emma Stone.
Amanda Bynes has laughed off reports her new mystery boyfriend is Drake, insisting she’s never even met the Canadian rapper.
The “Hairspray” star has been regularly updating her Twitter account to give hints about a new man in her life, and she prompted speculation of a romance with Drake with one message, which revealed her lover failed to win at the Grammy Awards last week.
She wrote, “The guy I love is the most talented person ever!!!!!! I’m irritated that a certain guy didn’t win certain awards. … He deserved them!!!”
Drake was nominated for two prizes at the 2010 ceremony but went home empty-handed.
Now the actress has taken to Twitter once again to rule out any romantic link with the “Best I Ever had” hit maker, writing, “FYI (for your information) I’ve never met Drake! We have a mutual friend but we haven’t met yet! So for some reason people think we’re dating but we’re not!”
Amanda Bynes has reportedly revealed that she is still “figuring out” what direction she wants to take with her career.
“I’m at that stage where I’m still young and maybe naive, but I’m figuring it out,” she is quoted as saying.
“All I want is to continue – to have a long career. I want to do stuff that I’m passionate about.”
The 23-year-old actress also discussed what she looked for in a relationship, saying: “I want someone who’ll be there and who I can trust – that’s really important to me.”
Bynes can next be seen in high school comedy Easy A, alongside Emma Stone and Cam Gigandet.
23-year old Amanda has been a fixture on TV since she starred in her own Nickelodeon program, The Amanda Show. While Amanda can sing dance and act, many still seem to think that she must have had plastic surgery to achieve the good looks that go along with her talent.
Plastic surgeon Dr Sherrell J Aston says, “I would not advise any Plastic Surgery for Ms. Bynes at this time.”
Amanda’s full lips and chipmunk cheeks have led to speculation of fillers and implants, but given her age, Amanda’s healthily plumped face is more likely a result of her youth and good genes.
Plastic surgeon Dr. Richard Ellenbogen refutes any claims that Amanda has had plastic surgery or needs any in the near future. He says, “Amanda Bynes is perfect. Remember what happened to Jennifer Grey after her surgery…everyone has flaws but the flaws are what make them desirable…did you ever hear Louis Armstrong or Jimmy Durante sing…sheer delight…perfection does not guarantee success, it is the combination of features that makes an actress desirable. In 500 days of summer Zoey Deschanel won’t win any beauty contests, but every man in the audience was in love with her at the conclusion.”
“Plastic surgery has been taken over in recent years to a bunch of inexperienced dermatology and plastic surgery money making factories. I hope some sly silver tongued devil doesn’t convince her she needs something…she doesn’t.”
Dr. Paul S. Nassif, Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at Spalding Drive Cosmetic Surgery says, “Amanda Bynes is still very young, and it is not evident she has had any work done. I wouldn’t change a thing, as she looks great at her young age.”
Amanda Bynes has denied reports she is dating Kid Cudi, insisting the pair is “just friends”.
The Hairspray star has been cosying up to the Day ‘n’ Nite hitmaker in recent weeks, according to the New York Daily News.
The publication claims Bynes is not ready to go public with the relationship yet – despite the singer bragging to pals last week (15Sep09) that he is dating the 23 year old.
But the actress’ representative has dismissed the claims, insisting Bynes is “just friends” with the rapper.
Amanda Bynes shows off her legs for days as she attends the 2009 Chrysalis Butterfly Ball.

Amanda Bynes has signed on for a two-picture deal with Screen Gems, Variety reports.
The actress will first co-star in the Will Gluck-directed comedy Easy A before she and Screen Gems president Clint Culpepper craft a star vehicle for her second project.
Culpepper said that Bynes, who gained fame as star of Nickelodeon’s The Amanda Show, has been on his radar for some time.
“She’s one of the few who can make that graceful transition from kid to adult star because she has such strong comic chops,” Culpepper told the trade paper.
The Teen Choice Awards air on Fox tonight.
The event took place last night in Los Angeles.
