Billie Piper has defended herself after she was photographed smoking next to her young son.

The 27-year-old actress has been criticized after she was allegedly seen blowing smoke into the face of her son Winston, one, while in a London park.

However, she has said the camera angle was misleading.

According to UK newspaper The Sun, her spokesman said: ‘Billie is a responsible parent who values her child’s health above all else.

‘Though a smoker, she is careful to only do so outside and with consideration to those around her. Due to the angle from which it is taken, the picture is misleading. It does not give a true sense of perspective in relation to the proximity of her son.’

Showtime has picked up “Secret Diary of a Call Girl” for a fourth and final season. The UK-based series starring Billie Piper chronicles the life of a young, university-educated London woman who clandestinely works the oldest profession on the side.

The series is based on the book “Belle de Jour: Diary of an Unlikely Call Girl” by Anonymous. Last November, after nearly six years of anonymity, Dr. Brooke Magnanti came clean as the woman behind “Belle de Jour.” From 2003 to late 2004, Magnanti, now a research scientist at the Bristol Initiative for Research of Child Health, worked as a prostitute for a London escort agency, blogging about her experiences under the name Belle de Jour. Her memoirs were first published as a book in 2005.

And Piper has revealed that the drama, based on the memoirs of a real-life former prostitute, will soon be hitting the big screens after the upcoming final season wraps. “I’m about to start filming the fourth series and then that will be it. I’m not sure it has legs past four seasons so we’re trying to develop a movie,” the Daily Express quoted Piper as saying.

A source added to The Sun: “The book has been a worldwide success and the TV show has been a hit on both sides of the Atlantic, a movie is the next obvious step.”

Billie Piper has reportedly signed up for a fourth series of steamy show Secret Diary of A Call Girl.

The 27-year-old star has played the role of real-life prostitute Belle De Jour in the hit show for the past three series, and reports claim bosses have paid £2million to secure her for the next series.

Filming will reportedly start later this year, and the first episode is expected to air in the UK on January 27 next year, according to UK newspaper Daily Star.

The next series will see Belle continue with her sexy career, as well as her new life as an anonymous best-selling author.

Piper has previously said the role is one of her favorites in her career.

Billie added: “I like Zac Efron. I think he’s completely gorgeous. But I’d only have like four scenes. I don’t know, I think it’s going to take me to really go for it and build it up (to make a name for herself in the US).”

The new mum feels playing infamous escort Belle De Jour has meant she has been typecast in roles which require her to strip, so her latest part was a nice change.

She said: “There’s just a long line of naked roles. She’s a nurse, she’s feisty, she arrives, in her bra. This is it now, this is me for life.

“So it is quite nice to play someone different, she’s radically different in terms of what kind of woman she is. It was a nice contrast.”

She had a harrowing time after five months, when she returned to the work. She came back with the role of a screen prostitute on the hit TV series, ‘Secret Diary Of A Call Girl’.

“The doctor said I had post-natal depression,” confesses Piper, “Secret Diary was a stressful time. I had started leaving Winston. I was finishing breast-feeding, which is really emotional. I don’t know what warrants postnatal depression,” says the actress.

Piper was determined to fight with the disease and refused to take the medications.

“They prescribed pills but I never took them. Pills frighten me. They’re a road to nowhere. I feel I’m too strong in mind and spirit for pills,” she says. “I didn’t feel it was that desperate – it was just a bad day,” she adds.

Doctor Who and Secret Life of a Call Girl star Billie Piper was on the Scot Mills show and confirmed that a Doctor Who movie is in the works.

When she was asked about the rumored movie – she responded, “They are doing it.”

“When Laurence and I go out into the countryside, I think a few of the older locals actually believe I’m a whore,” she said in the February issue of Marie Claire.

Billie also revealed her relationship with Laurence Fox is still as passionate as ever.

“We’re quite desperate about each other. It’s fiery and needy,” she said.

“We’re two very emotional people with staunch views about certain things.”
