It’s official: Hilary Duff is engaged to her hockey player boyfriend Mike Comrie.

Confirming rumors that the actress, who recently appeared on Gossip Girl, would soon be hearing wedding bells, her rep says that the Edmonton Oilers player, 29, did indeed propose.

“Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie were engaged this weekend while vacationing in Hawaii,” rep Nanci Ryder said Friday. “After having been together for over two years, they are very excited to share this happy news. They are thankful for all of your warm wishes.”

Hilary Duff has tattooed the word ‘Shine’ on her hand to remind her to always sparkle.

She insists the little ink reminder gets her out of moments of doom and gloom.

“It’s just for me to look at and remember. I feel like it’s easy to lose your shine, to lose that special thing about yourself,” contactmusic.com quoted her as saying.

“When you get busy or you get tired and you feel like everything is fake or the world is against you, it’s important to keep your character and to let your light shine.”

Dumped by her fed-up mother (Melissa Leo) at the Jersey Shore home of Greta’s grandparents (Ellen Burstyn and Michael Murphy), this movie’s petulant heroine shocks those around her with acerbic musings about committing suicide at 18, until summer romance, family secrets and near-tragedy guide Greta toward an emergent maturity about the consequences of her actions.

Director Nancy Bardawil and writer Michael Gilvary have a few too many after-school special schematics on display, and the recurrent use of animated scrapbook segues and pop songs that telegraph every emotion feels lazy. But their hearts are in the right place with their taming-of-the-brat tale.

They give Duff plenty of room to fail (quippy insults aren’t her forte) and succeed (Greta’s inevitable softening). Plus, the more-than-capable cast around her — especially the magnetic Evan Ross as the sweet and soulful ex-juvie line cook she falls for — keeps the generally predictable proceedings at a manageably spirited level of charm.

With her hair scraped back in a scruffy ponytail, the 22-year-old’s tresses looked in need of a bit of TLC.

A few hours later she returned to her 4×4 looking far more glamorous, with her barnet styled into a sweeping slick mane.

But she soon realised her appointment had come at an extra cost as she spotted the penalty notice nestling behind the windscreen wipers.

TV bosses have moved swiftly to deny reports actress Hilary Duff has held up production on “Gossip Girl” with a number of demands.

The 21-year-old is currently in New York City filming episodes as a guest star on the hit TV teen drama, in which she plays a movie star who enrolls in a university with Vanessa, played by Jessica Szohr.

Rumors swirled that Duff had infuriated the show’s cast after refusing to leave her trailer as the others waited to film near Manhattan’s Gramercy Park neighborhood, causing a massive delay in shooting.

A source claims, “No one could believe they would actually hold up taping for her. Nobody in the cast behaves like that.”

But a representative for the show tells the New York Post’s gossip column Page Six the rumor is “absolutely not true.”

Gossip Girl is expecting a few interesting guest stars for season three and some of them have already been spotted on set.

Last week, a fan met Joanna Garcia on the set of Gossip Girl. Joanna, who starred in Privileged, is in NYC filming with Chace Crawford. She will play Nate’s new love interest in the beginning of the season.

Hilary Duff is also reportedly on set. The actress is playing Vanessa’s new college roommate at NYU.

Looks like she is taking some time to relax before she starts filming for her new NBC sitcom.

Hilary Duff brought her Blessings in a Backpack program to Colombia Friday to distribute 3,000 knapsacks of food to poor children in a school district south of the capital city. Duff will spend three days visiting children and participating in a vaccination campaign. She was greeted by Bogota Mayor Samuel Moreno, whom Duff said gave her “an amazing invitation” to bring the program to Colombia. “We’ve been working for four years feeding children over the weekends,” she said. “They invited us to come here, and we got our first school in Bogota.”

She’s usually preened to perfection with not a hair out of place.

However, Hilary Duff sported a rather more dressed down look as she nipped out for a Pilates class.
