Lindsay Lohan is a free woman after being released early from a rehabilitation center on Tuesday just 22 days into a court-ordered three-month program.

Lohan’s early discharge following media reports that doctors treating the “Freaky Friday” actress do not believe the 24-year-old suffers from drug or psychiatric problems that were previously diagnosed.

Celebrity news website Radaronline.com said the actress was escorted out of the Los Angeles hospital unit’s back door into a waiting limousine on Tuesday afternoon, while TMZ.com said Lohan was to receive outpatient care from now on.

A court hearing was scheduled to take place on Wednesday, but Lohan was not expected to attend.

Lohan was also released early from jail earlier this month after serving 13 days of a 90-day sentence for violating her probation in a 2007 drunk driving and cocaine possession charge. She was released on the grounds of good behavior and also to help alleviate overcrowding.

She immediately entered a residential rehab program in Los Angeles for a 90-day stint ordered by the court as part of her sentence.

female celebritiesLohan Moving Back To New York?

Lindsay Lohan’s mom says the actress will be moving away from California and back to New York after she gets out of drug rehabilitation.

Dina Lohan, during an often tense interview with NBC “Today” show co-host Matt Lauer on Friday, said her daughter was doing “wonderfully” after 14 days in jail and lashed out at California Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel, who put the actress there.

Lauer also asked her about a belief that her daughter was not well-served by those around her, including her parents.

“As a parent, you have to let her go a little bit,” she said. “When she went out to Los Angeles when she was 19, I had to let her go and let her live and fall and fail and survive. Without failure, there’s no success. I was there in close proximity, but you can’t make your child not go out and go to a club and not get behind the wheel of a car. I certainly don’t condone any of that behavior.”

“They’re gonna do what they’re gonna do when they turn 18, 19,” Lohan said. “… And you kind of lose a little power and control, which you want to do for your child. You want to let them go. Without failure, there’s no success.”

Lohan said Lindsay will be coming to New York. California is “a wonderful state,” she said, but “it’s a different game you play there, the court system is a little different.”

female celebritiesLohan Has A New Judge

The judge who sent Lindsay Lohan to jail has removed herself from the case after a prosecutor complained she improperly contacted experts or participants in the case privately, including a rehabilitation facility, officials said Wednesday.

Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel recused herself, court spokesman Allan Parachini and district attorney’s office spokeswoman Jane Robison said.

Beverly Hills Superior Court Judge Elden Fox is now handling the Lohan case.

Robison said there were several instances when the judge had communications and the prosecutor was not present or told afterward.

In one instance, the judge contacted the Morningside Recovery rehab facility, which was not on a list provided by her court-appointed experts. She then selected Morningside as a place to send Lohan.

Lohan attorney Shawn Chapman Holley eventually persuaded the judge to send Lohan to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.

Whisked away to a women’s jail in an unmarked sheriff’s car after a brief hearing, Lindsay Lohan reported Tuesday for a 90-day sentence that the troubled actress likely will serve in isolation, and which may be significantly shortened.

Wearing dark denim jeans, a gray top, black corset belt and black jacket, the 24-year-old Lohan showed up at the Beverly Hills courtroom about 10 minutes late. After a short hearing, she rose and was handcuffed behind her back to serve her time for a probation violation.

Lindsay Lohan is scheduled to start her 90-day jail sentence today but the star’s last moments of freedom may not be captured by cameras.

Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel has placed tight restrictions on what the public will be able to see at the court hearing.

While the world watched as Lohan broke down in tears at her sentencing on July 6, the public won’t be able to see the actress handcuffed and taken into custody on Tuesday, the judge ruled.

Cameras also must stop rolling when the judge announces that Lohan is remanded and the bailiff is instructed to take her into custody. The judge also ordered that photos of Lohan must be restricted to when she’s at the counsel table.

Lindsay Lohan has moved to a substance abuse facility and signed legal papers hiring celebrity lawyer Robert Shapiro to represent her as she prepares to head to jail for violating probation in a 2007 drug case.

Shapiro, a key figure on O.J. Simpson’s legal “dream team” in 1995, confirmed Lohan was staying at Pickford Lofts, a treatment center Shapiro founded after his son died of a drug overdose.

Shapiro told The Associated Press on Friday he had agreed to represent Lohan only if she does her jail time and complies with the terms of her probation.

He said he would help the actress get treatment to accomplish long-term recovery and sobriety.

“Ms. Lohan is suffering from a disease that I am all too familiar with,” said Shapiro, whose son Brent died in 2005. “Hopefully I can be of assistance.”

Lohan is scheduled to begin serving a 90-day sentence on Tuesday.

Celebrity news site X17online.com posted photos of the actress entering the building late on Wednesday and of her mother Dina, sister Ali, and former girlfriend DJ Samantha Ronson turning up later, apparently to visit her.

The reports could not immediately be confirmed.

Lohan, 24, who is currently wearing a court-ordered alcohol monitoring bracelet, is due to begin a 90-day jail term on July 20 for missing alcohol education classes that were part of her probation on a 2007 drunken driving charges.

She was also ordered to attend a 90-day in patient rehabilitation program after completion of her jail sentence.

Lohan’s lawyer quit the case unexpectedly last week and the actress is reported to have hired famed defense lawyer Robert Shapiro to mount an appeal.

Shapiro, who was a member of the legal team that successfully defended football player O.J. Simpson on charges of murdering his wife in 1994, is the owner of the facility now reportedly housing Lohan.

Celebrity website TMZ.com said Shapiro would try to convince the judge in Lohan’s case to modify her jail sentence and focus instead on rehab.

A Beverly Hills judge ruled Tuesday that Lindsay Lohan violated the terms of her probation in a drunk driving case when she failed to attend alcohol education classes and sentenced her to 90 days in jail.

Judge Marsha N. Revel stated several instances over the last few years in which the actress lied about taking drugs and drinking.

“It’s like someone who cheats but doesn’t think it’s cheating if they don’t get caught,” Revel said.

Before sentencing, a tearful Lohan addressed the court, saying “as far as I knew I was in compliance with my programs.”

“I wasn’t trying to get special treatment,” the actress said. “I have to provide for myself. I have to work. Having said that, I did everything to balance my jobs and showing up. I’m not taking this as a joke. It’s my life. It’s my career…I take responsibility for my actions. I’ve tried to do the best I can. It’s been such a long haul, I don’t want you to think that I don’t respect you.”
