It was a day to remember for actress Mena Suvari and concert producer Simone Sestito, who were married today in a private church in Vatican City, Italy, PEOPLE has confirmed.

“The ceremony was truly unique and Mena looked breathtaking,” says a guest. “They are very much in love.”

The two, who have been engaged since 2008, planned a private reception following their ceremony outside of the city.

Mena Suvari has revealed that she is planning to marry her music producer boyfriend in Rome next year.

The 30-year-old actress became engaged to Simone Sestito during a vacation to Jamaica last year.

Speaking to Us Weekly, she said: “It’s going to be next June, outside of Rome. My fiancé is Italian so he has family there.”

Mena Suvari has joined the cast of romantic comedy You May Not Kiss The Bride.

The 30-year-old – who played the object of Kevin Spacey’s character’s affections in Oscar-winner American Beauty – joins Katharine McPhee and Vinnie Jones in the flick, says Hollywood Reporter.

It’s also been revealed that Soul Men’s Ken Davitian and Wayne’s World actress Tia Carrere have been added to the cast of the romcom.

Mena, who got her big break in 1999′s American Pie, was last seen in 2008 drama The Garden Of Eden.

You May Not Kiss The Bride will start shooting in Hawaii next week.

Mena Suvari hasn’t yet set a date for her nuptials, saying they’ll take place “maybe next year,” but she is moving full steam ahead with the planning aspect.

The actress, 30, announced her engagement to music producer-promoter Simone Sestito in July, and hopes to wed in Italy.

Mena Suvari has confessed she thought her new film Stuck was a comedy when she started reading the script.

Mena revealed: “I thought it was a comedy when I first started reading it. The first two pages I thought ‘Brandi’ how funny her name is and is she kind of cute and quirky and then all of a sudden it just went like this.
