The American Music Awards are typically a snooze fest but the bar was raised last night. Everyone’s talking about the various winners and performances. Jennifer Lopez fell during her performance of “Louboutins”, Adam Lambert shocked viewers with his racy performance of “For Your Entertainment”, Lady Gaga lit up the stage, err piano and Rihanna made her first performance since the Chris Brown incident.

I cannot wait for the next award show. What did you think about the American Music Awards?

The only thing worse than Kanye interrupting Taylor Swift is listening to everyone reenact the scene a week later. The show had very few memorable moments and overall was a tad on the dull side. The host, Neil Patrick Harris, was definitely not the best choice but it could have worse.

A Michael Jackson tribute performed by Madonna and Janet Jackson kicked off another controversial MTV award show. At the MTV Movie Awards earlier this year, Brüno landed in Eminem’s lap stirring up thousands of conversations around the preplanned stunt. The VMA’s have their own stunt with Kanye West stealing Taylor Swift’s thunder during her acceptance speech.

Russell Brand was a fantastic host for the second year. Pink, Green Day, Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, and many more artists performed in front of the always energetic audience. Of course, Lady Gaga’s multiple costumes made everyone’s heads turn.

Taking the stage to perform her newly released single, “Party in the U.S.A.,” the 16-year-old superstar danced around a “trailer trash” set, tongue firmly in cheek, as she spoofed her Tennessee upbringing and even took a whirl around a stripper-like pole on top of an ice-cream pushcart.

“Tonight I’m performing ‘Party in the U.S.A.,’ which is my new single and which I’m super-excited about,” Miley told MTV News before the taping of the awards, which will air on Fox on Monday night (August 10). “I’m about to go out on tour, so all my music is being aired out right now.”

The Teen Choice Awards air on Fox tonight.
